Tips on where to sit, how to get to the stadium, and where to park when going to Stade Matmut Atlantique. This is the newer stadium for football and rugby in Bordeaux, near the Parc ses Expositions Tram Line C and Bus 75 stop.

Where to sit at Stade Matmut?

If it’s an afternoon game when the sun is still up, you’ll want to sit on the West (Ouest) side. higherup the better. if, like our game in 2022 to see Ireland and Romania play in the Dugby World Cup, you en up in East (Est) side and lower…well dress for the weather and bring a fan, hat and sunglasses. They do sell water of course and if there are empty seats anywhere you can grab them until someone else shows up.

How to get to Stade Matmut?
we usually drive to the stadium and arrive a good hour or more in advance. It’s to avoid traffic of course. There is parking on site at the stadium, it’s 15€ to pay on site with card for Olympic football matches.
It’s also to enjoy the spirit of the pre-game! Grab a drink, some memorabilia and a beer with other attendees. In addition, depending on the day, it could take 30 minutes to get inside just standing in line. So be early.

If you take public transport, also give yourself plenty of time. The trams have air conditioning, but it’s not like in the USA and when the tram is packed people have fainted! So again, come early. It’s also not the worst idea to hang out a while after to let the first crowd heads home.
I would not recommend bicycle or walking in high heat conditions.

We received a text from the Olympics (tickets are on App we downloaded) and it’s asking to arrive three hours in advance. Seems excessive but I’ll report back tomorrow! App is here https://apps.apple.com/us/app/paris-2024-olympics/id808794344

Have a great time! Watching sports here is a lot of fun and the crowds are generally great!
