A Day Trip from Paris – Bordeaux Food and Wine Day Tour

It’s easy to get locked into spending most of your time in Paris, maybe taking a trip to Versailles or Chantilly. Did you know you can spend a day in Bordeaux, visit the city, have lunch, tour a chateau, and make it back to Paris for dinner? We will meet you at the train station in Bordeaux, the Gare Saint Jean, and take you on a tour through town. Discover the history of over two thousand years in this important port city. Try local delicacies and choose your own restaurant to take lunch, before heading into Pessac-Leognan for a vineyard tour.

HOW TO GET TO BORDEAUX FROM PARIS
Trains run regularly from Gare Montparnasse in Paris to Gare Saint Jean in Bordeaux. InOui is the high speed train which takes about two hours. OuiGo is the slightly slower, budget train that can take anywhere from 2.5 – 3 three hours. Train tickets go on sale about three months before date of travel, you can also buy closer to the day but expect steeper prices. Round-trip tickets can run from 60 EURO and up per person, with discounts for children and seniors. Please keep in mind many OuiGo trains will offer seats with plugs even though they don’t have them. SNCF Connect : Réservez vos billets SNCF, bus et covoiturage. Please travel lightly as there will not be a location for luggage or big bag storage.

Best time to arrive would be between 9-930am. Once you arrive to Gare Saint Jean, we will meet you and take care of the tram tickets and touring, ^plus the tasting fees. We will start with local pastries and coffee, before discovering the city.

WHERE WE EAT IN BORDEAUX

Lunch at noon is at a restaurant of your choice and can be with or without your guide. At the time of booking be sure to include number of people, ages, food allergies and aversions, and any mobility issues. This should be between 12pm-2pm. There are an assortment of wonderful bistros, chef-owned restaurants and historical eateries to choose from. Keep in mind this is duck country, so if this is what you’d like to have there are great options for all price ranges!

WINE TOUR IN BORDEAUX

After lunch we will leave for a wine tour with tastings in nearby Pessac-Leognan, famous for it’s red and white classified wines. We can take a taxi, an uber, or pre-arrange a private driver, depending on your budget and personal needs. Some of the more popular locations are Chateau Pape Clement, created by Pope Clement V who is from nearby Bordeaux. Or Chateau Carbonnieux, whose wines were loved by Thomas Jefferson. There are small family vineyards as well, some that can be very family friendly. Reservations depend on availability.

This tour should last no more than two hours from start to finish. Trips between Bordeaux and chateaux ranging from 15-45 minutes depending on location and traffic. We can get you to the train station for a 6pm train back to Paris.
