Which Hotels to Stay at in Bordeaux

Someone recently asked where they should stay in Saint Emilion. Truth is, I don’t feel comfortable telling you where to stay, if I haven’t stayed myself. I choose hotels on location, price, and cleanliness, trying to get the best value I can. Most of my ‘staycations’ are in Bordeaux, so here are a few hotels to try in Bordeaux!

Even if you don’t stay in the Intercontinental, do try to go for a glass of wine on the rooftop, lunch in Le Bordeaux, or tea in the Orangerie…it really is a beautiful space!

***These three start hotels can be booked for between 100-200 EURO a night, if booked in advance maybe even under 100!

Little budget, great location, and clean! Nothing beats the Quality Hotel in this case. Right off of Rue Saint Catherine in the center of the historic districts, it’s simple but ticks all the boxes. Perfect for families and solo travelers / choicehotels.com/france/bordeaux/quality-inn-hotels/fr160 / 27 Rue Parlement Sainte-Catherine, 33000 Bordeaux *I don’t have photos from here, my apologies*

Moxy is in the Bacalan neighborhood, close to the cite du vin and fun market Halles de Bacalan. Lots of parking close by and has a cafeteria style dining area. Good for business trips, families. Rooms are simple with an industrialist feel. Some rooms have bathtubs which is nice. Clean, in a quiet neighborhood, with easy tram access that gets you into the center of Bordeaux in 15 minutes / https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/bodox-moxy-bordeaux / 25 Quai du Maroc, 33000 Bordeaux

This four star Mercure in the Chartons neighborhood is technically a four star…and the breakfast room (and breakfast options) was really nice! Staff were great! Personally, the bedrooms need an update, but it’s a good value overall! My girls loved it. Plenty of spaces to congregate, so would be good for families and groups. https://all.accor.com/booking/fr/mercure/hotels/chartrons-bordeaux-france / 81 Cours Saint-Louis, 33300 Bordeaux

****Four stars and good value, between 200-350 EURO a night

Maison Labruyere is an apart-hotel near the Jardin Publique in a quiet neighborhood. Beautifully decorated interiors and nice bathrooms. There are some small kitchen areas so you can do basics at home if you want. Easy walk to public transportation. Great location to kids park in the Public Garden, but equally nice for couples / Home – Maison Labruyère Bordeaux / 52 Rue d’Aviau, 33000 Bordeaux

The Hotel Burdigalia was already a wonderful hotel with a great restaurant and elegant rooms before the renovations in 2024 (please note my photos are from before renovations). The new rooms are more modern, but still nicely styled. It’s outside of the historic center of town, in the brutalist neighborhood of Meriadeck where you will find American style malls and the prefecture. You’re also right near a tram and the service is excellent / Le Burdigala | Lifestyle Hotel Bordeaux | Official website / 15 Rue Georges Bonnac, 33000 Bordeaux

Clients of mine, and friends, love these hotels in Bordeaux as well :

Hotel Seze for the location near the Place Quinconces, restaurant and rooms / Hotel Bordeaux Centre, Spa et Restaurant Bistronomique – Hôtel de Sèze **** / 23 Allées de Tourny, 33000 Bordeaux

I can speak for the hotel and spa at Le Burdigala which are great, outdoor pool doesn’t hurt in the summer either! Le Burdigala | Lifestyle Hotel Bordeaux | Official website / 115 r Georges Bonnac, Bordeaux

I only post about places I’ve stayed and I will share those I’d still like to stay at in the future. These are not paid for posts and are my personal thoughts on where to stay when you visit Bordeaux.
